a silver chalice bearing the pale engrailed"Mad John" - the answer

A fantasy puzzle by "Oneighty" - distorted from a local legend

"mAd John" in an old computer typeface

Robin had travelled to Tynedale after solving Grandpa's cryptic message.  He took a pair of scissors and cut out the words "mAd John" Then he carefully cut out each letter and twisted the pieces around until he got:

the letters moved and twisted to spell "pruDhoE"

The "pale engrailed" is the heraldic term for the wiggly thing on the shield shown above.
Perhaps one day we will publish the sequel to this fantastic tale.  Don't hold your breath!
